Today the church celebrates The Feast of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This memorial finds its origins in a 2nd Century apocryphal source, the Proto-Avon Galleon or Book of Saint James, and in the dedication on the 21st of November in the year 543, of the Basilica of Saint Mary the New in Jerusalem.
