“Authentic shepherding always demands dying to self,” says Father Jerry, “Who among us hasn’t had to lay down our life as we planned it, for the sake of the flock entrusted into our care?”
“It happens every time that we give up something that we really want to do on a weekend, in order to watch our child’s soccer game. It happens when we sacrifice the little two-seater sports car for the family minivan. It happens when we realize that family has to come before career. It happens when we begin to live more simply for the sake of our fragile, much abused planet Earth, when we realize that we are responsible for and will someday have to give an account for God’s marvelous creation,” says Father in today’s great homily above for Good Shepherd Sunday.
