Today the church celebrates Wednesday of the Third Week of Advent. And the “O Antiphons,” normally sung and vespers, are often used at some of the Masses during the period between now and Christmas. “O Come, O Come Emmanuel,” the song which is so closely associated with the Advent Season, is based on the O Antiphons. And today, the first O Antiphons is O Come O, Come Emmanuel.
Let us pray.
Grant we pray Almighty God, that the coming solemnity of Your Son may bestow healing upon us in this present life, and bring us the rewards of life eternal. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen
