This morning, Father Jerry reminisced, “In January of 2008, I was fortunate enough to spend three weeks in Egypt. One of the highlights of the visit was the chance to stand at the foot of the Great Pyramid outside of Cairo. And although Khufu had been dead for over 2,000 years before Jesus Christ was even born, Khufu was enough of a builder to know that there is nothing more important in construction than a solid foundation.”
“In light of today’s Gospel,” Father added, “we might all do well to ask ourselves, ‘On what have I built the foundation of my life?'”
If the cloud of the pandemic that has ravaged our world has a silver lining, I think it is the fact that so many people are coming to a real appreciation of the importance of God, and family and friends in their lives, because when the chips are down, these are the only building blocks that have lasting value.
